Singer Charenée Wade and her septet pay homage to Sarah Vaughan's legacy, celebrating the jazz icon's 100th birthday at a Bryant Park concert in June 2024. Blending jazz with modern touches, Wade honors "The Divine One" Sarah Vaughan, one of the most influential voices in jazz history. Known by nicknames like "Sassy," "The Divine One," and the "Queen of Bebop," the singer and pianist was a vocal innovator whose voice spanned octave ranges. Vaughan brought unmatched control to the bebop era and became a legacy for generations of musicians.
