Welcome to another episode of Challenger Approaching! In this series, we cover characters who might be invited to a future entry of Super Smash Bros, then go into deep into detail on how they could be designed if they joined the roster for real!
Our Challenger this time...is waiting for a chance to do something again. A robotic warrior from the distant future of 21XX, Zero has fought battle after battle to bring peace to his world and strike down those who would threaten the innocent. Despite no new (mainline) entry in the Mega Man X series in nearly 20 years, Zero remains popular to this day! Which is why his surprise Assist Trophy role in Ultimate brought up some complicated feelings from fans, happy to see him doing something but disappointed he wasn't able to join as a newcomer.
But what if the next Smash game--which WILL happen at some point--changed that? Let's see how Zero's futuristic weaponry, masterful swordplay, and long list of techniques from his games could come together for a moveset and fighter design that'd stand out!

Welcome to another episode of Challenger Approaching! In this series, we create full newcomer designs for characters who might be invited to a future entry of Super Smash Bros, going deep into detail on their moves, stats, and everything a newcomer needs!
This time, our Challenger is a pretty new face as far as franchises go! Astral Chain made its debut in 2019, a stylish action title with a futuristic cyberpunk aesthetic that caught a lot of people off guard. Despite being pretty different compared to most of Nintendos repertoire, it did pretty well for a brand new IP! Enough that fans have been hoping for a sequel, and wondering what the next Smash Bros. might have in store for the games protagonists.
I cant speak for the former, but what if Smash 6 (or whatever it ends up being) did come through? How could the Howard twins bring their extensive movesets into Smash? And how could their ability to summon and fight alongside entities from another dimension give them a unique take on an archetype Smash has barely touched so far?
