Chainsaw Man Chapter 196 "Chainsaw Man to the Rescue"
The new girl starts her introduction by pitying the entire student body, only to break down into tears the moment the teacher leaves. A boy with a bandage on his face offers her a chance to help with something, which she eagerly accepts—until she realizes the task is just throwing garbage into the school incinerator. Dismissing it as a “waste of her powers,” she tells him to do it himself since, unlike her, he has no abilities to save people. Rather than argue, the boy silently takes the trash and walks away.
As an awkward tension settles over the room, the same girl who once bullied Asa bluntly tells the transfer student that she’s making everyone uncomfortable. If she really wants to be useful, she should go outside and crush ants instead.
Later, the bandaged boy finds her doing exactly that—squishing ants. Letting out a sigh, he notes that, given she’s from out of town, she’s probably been caught up in some devil-related tragedy. He explains that many students here share a similar past, using school as their one refuge from reality. If she truly wants to “save” them, the best thing she can do is simply smile.
The transfer student’s composure cracks. She insists the festival is doomed to fail regardless, but there’s still a way to save everyone… by freeing them from their suffering through death. Placing a hand on the boy, she prepares to make an example of him—until something catches her eye. A silhouette looms above the school.
The boy immediately recognizes it as Chainsaw Man. He begins to speak, with even the Death Devil offering salvation, yet something feels off. His words about fighting for justice, his very presence—none of it quite adds up…
