A chain vice (chain vise, for our overseas friends), is a great piece of kit if you need to grip metal pipe or conduit etc. Chain vices can be bench mounted like the ones in this video, or you can also get chain vices on tripods for portability. If you thread steel pipe or conduit manually, a pipe vice is the vice of choice, obviously if you have a lot of pipe to thread, then a pipe threading machine is a must- youtube.com/watch?v=TLIg4lQ_wIw&t
