One of the highlight's from my visit to the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV, was Quell - a wearable electronic device that uses cutting-edge technology to manage pain.

Using wearable intensive nerve stimulation (WINS) to block pain signals in the body, the device is designed to be worn around the calf, secured by a strap, and can be used day and night, even during sleep, which for chronic pain sufferers is often one of the most difficult periods of the day.

As the opioid crisis grows larger each year, finding practical solutions for drug-free pain management is critical. Quell reports that 67% of its users see a reduction in their use of pain medication, with 81% of its users reporting an improvement in their chronic pain symptoms - exciting statistics to hear as a physician.

I had a chance to speak with the CEO of Quell, Shai Gozani, MD, PhD, where he explained in more detail how it works, you can view that video above.
