Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks has spent a few years allying with MAGA and conservations, arguing we need to team up with them to accomplish shared goals. This is problematic: Trump turned his back on all the supposed MAGA principles, and according to all polling data, MAGA continues to support all of his actions. For example, a poll found that 90% of MAGA supports his Iran War, increasing from about 50% before he took the action.
Tucker Carlson apologized for supporting Donald Trump, and Cenk Uygur was outraged at some liberals who were skeptical, pointing out that he endorsed Trump, and the insane amount of damage that Tucker Carlson has done to muslims and other groups. Funny enough, according to recent polling data: Tucker Carlson's approval amongst MAGA has shifted negative 50 points after his spat with Trump.
Cenk sent out his sylliloqui on Twitter: "I’m a little disgusted by the lack of grace some people on our side are showing people like
@TuckerCarlson for not only opposing Trump but apologizing for supporting him.
They definitely don’t speak for Muslim-Americans, who are grateful for our new allies. The humanity Tucker, @FmrRepMTG, @RepThomasMassie
and others have shown as they fought to help children in Gaza, and to stop this war, and stop Israel’s genocide, has been amazing and appreciated. If some pundits on the left demand we condemn people who have shown millions of our fellow Americans on the right that we deserve compassion too, my answer is a firm no. Maybe some elite liberals have enough privilege to have the genocide and the wars on Gaza, Lebanon and Iran as lower priorities for themselves, but we don’t have that luxury. This is a matter of life and death. We don’t have time for partisan games in serious times like this.
And as an American, I care deeply about American sovereignty. And if you think Israel hasn’t robbed us of our sovereignty or that it’s not that important, then you’re no ally of mine. In my opinion, these figures on the right have been heroic in their fight against the war. Either do better than them or have the decency not to criticize someone fighting harder than you."
Some of his MAGA fans were supportive, while his liberal ones were outraged: "So I'm supposed to excuse all the other atrocities he supports because he has your view on Israel?" amongst many more.
