We proudly honored the transformative power of service and volunteering of Shrusti Amula at the sixth annual George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards on October 23, 2024 in Washington, D.C.

Shrusti is the founder of Rise N Shine Foundation, a youth-led nonprofit committed to reducing food waste through composting and food recovery efforts. Her work spans diverse service campaigns, from tackling hunger to promoting youth activism, with a strong focus on empowering young volunteers to lead.

To date, Shrusti has successfully diverted over 200,000 pounds of food waste from incinerators, transforming it into compost. Now a freshman at Georgetown University, she continues to inspire change and drive sustainable impact.
