Fifty years of Transfort in Fort Collins is a significant milestone for our decades-long commitment to providing safe and reliable public transit for all. Learn how our City’s early transit system adapted to the needs of Fort Collins’s residents from 100 year old electric trolley lines, to its mid 1970s 16 passenger mini-vans and today - to its fleet of 53 buses including 6 all-electric vehicles. In this 25 minute documentary, meet some of Transfort’s biggest advocates- Jean, who was one of the system’s very first bus operators; Michael who reminisces about the bus system’s expanding service in the 1980’s and 1990’s and finally Mandy, who explains how Transfort has provided her a lifeline of accessibility and opportunity. Throughout the story, a common theme is how, over its 50 years, Transfort met the growing needs of Fort Collins passengers such as transitioning from paper to digital on-demand schedules and routes, accessibility for those with disabilities, and best of all- free fares. We can’t wait to see what the next 50 years will bring!
