This original progressive nature of this animation by Bill Feigenbaum at NYIT makes upscaling of this animation so much better. Unlike interlaced video, each of these frames is fully intact with both sets of scan lines on the same image at the same time. A full-rez SD frame enlarges much better.
The subcarrier artifacts are still there if you look, because this work was originally recorded NTSC to 1" videotape - so the subcarrier was present ever since this thing hit tape. I'll bet it looked great on the work monitor, though.
