I was finally able to get out for an overnight trip. The weather looked favorable. It was hot with dry winds the week prior. I didn't want to be out there in case a fire broke out. A lot of fires broke out in SoCal during that time.
It was a chill trip. I end up moving the hammock to a less windy spot.
I slept awesome. One of the reasons for heading out was to get a good night's sleep. I tend to sleep better in a hammock than in my own bed.
In the morning it there was some drizzle. I tried out the Govee Mini Thermometer / Hygrometer to check the temperature in the morning.
I caught a huge bass.
The tendonitis in my ankle and hip/groin is starting to get better.
I have slowly resumed running to get back to training for the Mammoth Trailfest 50K in late September.
There's still time but it's sneaking up fast. I'm trying to do the long game with MAF training.
I basically want to beat the cutoff time. I don't have to succeed. One of the reasons for signing up is to give me a chance at failing.
Of course I don't want to fail, but this race will tell me what I need to improve on.
I still haven't put down an exhausted list of the Why's to signing up for an Ultramarathon as my first ever running race.
One of my goals is to be in good enough shape to finish fresh and go fishing a day or two after the race.
