In this video, I respond to the claims made by @redeemed_zoomer in his video about Ecumenical Councils

Ultimately, I contend that the Protestant position advocated by Zoomer is inadequate and devolves into a subjective and arbitrary appropriation of Ecumenical Councils as “authoritative.” Protestants borrow from Catholicism to know which Ecumenical Councils are authentic, but disregard their teachings when it’s inconvenient or inconsistent with their theological opinions. To say that an Ecumenical Council has authority when it accurately represents what the Bible says is to functionally put your own opinions over the authority of Councils as gatekeeper. Thus, Ecumenical Councils are not thought to possess any more authority or guidance of the Holy Spirit than any singular church or church leader and can easily be dismissed in Protestantism.
