Recent rains in central Australia brings out new growth of the tar vine which is food for the Yipirinya Caterpillar. This Caterpillar has emerged and eating fast as it can so it will develop into a Hawk Moth. The Caterpillar will burrow into the ground where it will stay until the next rains arrive thus prompting new growth of the tar vine. This could be many years. The Yipirinya is an important part of central Australian Aboriginal culture.
