Evie (ChickasaurusGL) 🌺 | Catch any Pokémon at the Trainer House (Glitch Unown 0xA2+wrong pocket TM36) (Gold/Silver) @ChickasaurusGL | Uploaded March 2022 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
Notes:
If you're using Mystery Gift you can skip using glitch Unown 0xA2, however you can use glitch Unown 0xA2 to manipulate any Pokémon in Trainer House slot 1 from party Pokémon 3's OT.
To do this glitch, we:
0. Have party Pokémon 3 with a specific original Trainer name (seven letters long and limited to the name entry screen at the beginning of the game, unless it's a special glitch name like from a trade with Generation I).
1. View glitch Unown 0xA2.
2. Reset when the tile corruption happens, but not too late or the glitch won't give the right Trainer.
3. Fight the Trainer. If their name freezes maybe try different Pokémon in slot 1 and 2 and try again. The Trainer should send out a Pokémon based on slot 6 of the OT name for the level and slot 7 of the OT name for the species.
4. Lose then use wrong pocket TM36 repeatedly until you catch the Pokémon (it's likely you won't catch it many times).
The name (first five letters don't matter)ZX from the name entry at the beginning of the game for example, would give 'Z' at level 'X' which is Level 153 Mew according to https://glitchcity.wiki/The_Big_HEX_List
How to get glitch Unown 0xA2:
You can use arbitrary code execution with Crystal_'s generic memory editor guide (write A2 memory address DC24), or you could try the method here with a Defense stat of 162 instead.

You can also use GameShark code 01A224DC.
How to get wrong pocket TM36 (item 0xE4):
For Crystal_'s guide write E4 to memory address D5B8 (normal items 1).
Other ways to get it are messing around with the duplicate key items glitch and/or expanded inventory, which requires getting a bad clone as well. Also if you have the expanded bag and a normal TM36 in PC item storage you can use that as well. archives.glitchcity.info/forums/board-108/thread-8154/page-0.html

You can also use GameShark code 01E4B8D5.
How to get the Pokémon with the specific OT:
You can catch it as normal with your own Trainer's OT. This will work for seven character long names, but due to a 00 byte at the beginning of the move list for the Trainer House Pokémon not shorter names.
You can also use traded Pokémon with OTs with 7 characters or longer from a trade, including names you can't enter from the new name screen (e.g. from Generation I arbitrary code execution, connection copier, LWA, or box breaker glitch), and this might work for Generation I preset names (as internally they are longer than what they display) but haven't tested it yet.
Example:

You can also use GameShark codes 01xx65DB (level) 01xx66DB (species) 015067DB (move freeze fix) to alter party Pokémon 3's OT.
How it works (partly):
When it is viewed, Glitch Unown 0xA2 corrupts the Trainer House portion of the SRAM from another place in RAM.
Conveniently, DB65 (third Pokémon OT slot 6) and DB66 (third Pokémon OT slot 7) control the level and species of the first Pokémon you'll fight in the Trainer House respectively.
Name lengths are normally limited to seven characters, and a Pokémon caught from a name exactly 7 characters long will have the move 1 data as 0x50 (Petal Dance). If you have exactly three party Pokémon, the move 2-4 data might read 0x00, and the freeze won't happen based on having glitch moves in the move list (00 at the beginning, or having FC, FD, FE, FF).
As found by luckytyphlosion (iirc), wrong pocket TM36 in Gold/Silver has an invalid item execution pointer, running 03:698A. https://glitchcity.wiki/TMHMDex/GS:228
