'Catalyst' is the story of a doctor whose obsession with cheating death has brought the world into an age of technological wonder. As his compound is being raided by government agencies, he takes the desperate step to hide an experimental nanofluid by ingesting it, which immediately dissolves him into a black sludge. After years on an evidence room shelf, the sludge is rediscovered by a team of bold scientists who begin to revive the doctor’s work. They find great success in using the black sludge as a neural network. Robots throughout the world run on the nanofluid that is unknowingly imbued with the doctor’s consciousness. While initially overjoyed at the help he brings the world, the doctor finds himself increasingly disillusioned by humanity’s squandering of what’s been given to them. Now in complete control of the world’s technology, he takes it upon himself to punish humankind.
