Skipping the Crystal fetch-quest and the Crystal puzzle for a New Game speedrun, plus a new wall breach trick.
This wall breach trick can be done with enemies that throw you about when you grab them. They don't normally throw you beyond walls when you grab them, Gabriel mostly just slams against walls.
However you can manipulate this grab-mechanic so that Gabriel has a good chance of going through walls temporarily in order to activate checkpoints and triggers that are on the other side of some wall.
This is how I get it to work at this date:
1. Face some wall you want to temporarily breach.
2. Stay in your Blocking stance.
3. When a specific type of enemy (as mentioned above) gets extremely close, roll towards the wall while still blocking and suddenly grab the enemy.
4. Once you've grabbed the enemy, spam grab + jump at the very same time while pushing your L controller towards the wall you want to breach (not sure if all these inputs are required). Gabriel will zip around oddly out-of-bounds once the enemy knocks him backwards. If there happens to be some trigger or checkpoint just beyond the wall you may activate it.
That's it. Now to test it elsewhere in the game.
EDIT: I've yet to try this skip during a first visit, so I've yet to see if this affects Gabriel's ability to get Crystals. But at the start of the level, the game gives you your crystal slot. So I'm pretty sure you'll still have it after completing the level in this glitched way.
But, it still needs to be tested at some point...
