Happy late Halloween! If you're any familiar with the Master System (or the Game Gear), you'd probably know that it features some... tinny music. This is down to the soundchip not being able to produce low enough notes at the clock rate it's running on those systems. The lowest note is gonna be an A-2 (displayed as A-1 in SnevenTracker).
A way around this, which many arcade boards used, is to just use a lower clock rate on the SN7. It runs at around 3.5 MHz on the Master System, but some arcade games run it at a much lower rate than that. This cover has it clocked at just about 2 MHz (which is why the notes don't correspond exactly). This does come with a consequence: it also tunes the noise generator's rate to be much lower. This doesn't help, as the SN7 noise generator is normally fixed to three distinct pitches (unless you use the 3rd square channel in a special mode, but then you lose that 3rd channel). I could've kept the standard 3.5MHz clock speed and used the periodic noise mode with that special mode (along with more impressive sound design, I guess) but I didn't do that here.
