The castle is located on the northern edge of the town, on a hill overlooking the Adda lowlands. It has a rectangular plan, with a central courtyard overlooked by four buildings with corner towers, among which the one on the eastern corner stands out for its height. The north-eastern and south-eastern facades, facing the Adda, retain their original fortified appearance; on the contrary, the south-western facade, in the centre of which the entrance opens, has a Mannerist appearance more similar to that of a palace, with deep ashlar, stone decorations depicting the heads of mythical characters, and large masks. The entrance hall opens onto the internal courtyard through a serliana; on the opposite side there is a loggia, partly walled, with three arches supported by twin columns, and open at the rear towards the countryside. Marubbi notes a strong similarity of this loggia with the portico of the Affaitati palace in Cremona and therefore hypothesizes by analogy that it is attributed to Francesco Dattaro. The interiors have been modified several times and present as their only point of interest a room with a frescoed vault dating back to the second half of the sixteenth century.
