The Glen Mhor Hotel complex was awarded funding from the District Heating Loan Fund to set up a heat network to heat hotel buildings as well as a new beer and whisky craft distillery. The District Heating Loan Fund is managed by Energy Saving Trust on behalf of the Scottish Government. The project draws natural heat from an aquifer next to the river Ness. This is boosted by two large water sourced heat pumps which heat the hotel rooms as well as adjacent buildings. The water sourced heat pumps will replace 20 existing gas fired boilers.
