Join me for a Friday morning at the top of historic Adeje town in Tenerife—not the coastal resort area most people mean when they say Costa Adeje. After a few technical problems, I launch the drone for a look over the town before exploring Casa Fuerte, a fascinating fortified residence with centuries of history behind it.
We then settle into Cafetería El Salón, where I meet Rita, order a lomo bocadillo and work my way through the breakfast, lunch and dessert menus. There are plenty of traditional Canarian dishes, remarkably reasonable prices and a small artisan shop selling locally made products.
Along the way, we chat about affordable housing in Tenerife, life as an expat and how I’m now using Descript and ChatGPT to simplify my video-production workflow. It is a relaxed morning of local history, food, conversation and a side of Adeje that many visitors never see.
