This time, I'm going to do something a bit different.
Chiasm is pretty much my bread and butter, since not only is she obscure but as you may remember if you actually read these descriptions, she's my favourite musician. Which means that she has a lot of content to offer that often isn't seen. However, I haven't been a good boy and haven't uploaded very often. So, as we close in on halloween and on the end of the world with a political landscape so jagged you get speared for mentioning something positive or negative about anyone, the tracks I'm uploading are a compilation of songs that aren't full EPS or albums (except Are You Okay) but still aren't on youtube and deserve to be on here. With all that said, let's get into the brief descriptions.
Carphax Files is familiar with Chiasm already, having worked with her on the remix of Prefrontal (part 3, my favourite remix on that EP) and though I haven't heard much of their work before or since I do rather like the music I've heard of theirs. Their newest collaboration with Chiasm is of a slightly risque nature, the cover art connotating themes of bondage. Yet the song itself feels oddly freeing - The lyrics discussing release and stability, more emotionally than sexually. "Sometimes you have to scream so you can cry". If anything, it comes across like a love song, and arguably it is. Yet the poem at the beginning of the EP is very much BDSM based - Throughout the song it feels like there is a much more human, mature understanding of BDSM and why people take pleasure from it - Not just sexual gratification, but emotional as well. The description in the bandcamp page says it far better than I ever could, but I can understand the way these people thought when they collaborated on this EP. I think that this EP also has some of Rohn's best vocal performance, stylistically in line with what I'm used to from her but with a heartfelt passion that betrays some personal experiences she exorcises through the song and some of the best vocal melodies and most clever writing I've seen from her. Carphax brings a melancholic breath to the song, and aids in crafting the mini-narrative of the song - I don't want to undersell the remixes either, as usual they all make the song their own - Unitcode synthesizing a more artificial, lofty mix, Null Device's more organic, contemplative offering and Fryer's ethereal, expert weaving of the melodies present in the song and lyrics each show a new shard in the mirror of this experience. Honestly, though this technically isn't part of Chiasm's discography, this is up there, and you should definitely pick it up if you're as much an enthusiast as I am.

Chiasms newest EP, Mice On A Wheel, continues on the style established in her previous album 11:11, featuring the bubbly, ethereal darkwave style which purveyed 11:11. However, instead of simply repeating the same notes touched upon in that album, Mice On A Wheel borrows fragments of the reverb-drenched, industrious atmosphere her first three albums were known for, applying these elements to her evolved style and creating a new concoction from the result that evokes a melancholic wanderlust quality in the listener similar to the first two albums methodical, submerged approach to atmosphere. At the same time, the music present invokes the catchy, nearly bouncy nature of 11:11, creating a teeming whirlpool of emotions and sensations, from the melancholic, homely World Left to the mechanical, clean, jittery Mice on a Wheel. No doubt, this isnt an EP you want to pass up if you are a fan of industrial music, and neither is the album Reset, which comes out later this year!
