In her album Creology, Portuguese jazz singer and musician Carmen Souza explores her Cape Verdean creole roots. With her gravity-defying voice she guides us in the musical journey of her ancestors through rhythms like batuque, funana, semba, quilapanga and marrabenta from Cabo Verde, Angola and Mozambique together with Afro-Brazilian and Cuban sounds, travelling all the way to the jazz shores of New Orleans.
