August 14, 1994: The day of the jackal finally comes to an end. After 20 years of evading an international dragnet, the shadowy international terrorist known as Carlos the Jackal is in French custody.
Charles Pasqua, French Interior Minister: "The greatest terrorist of our time is finally in the hands of justice."
Carlos is blamed for dozens of deaths and terrorist attacks from Europe to Japan. His real name, Felix Ramirez Sanchez. A master of disguise who frequently changed his appearance through plastic surgery. Carlos's arrest came in Sudan. A former CIA official called him a terrorist burnout who spent most of the last decades swilling whiskey. Yet he remains an almost legendary symbol of terrorism.
