Featured old folks include Marie and Jack Bernard, who married in 1944. The Lerners married in 1953. Martin Valins and Roberta Valins were ready to hit the sack. Alice Minchella has been married 43 years.
Susan Rook bids farewell to Linden Soles and the CNN primetime team. She'll be back August 22nd for the brand-new show, Talkback Live.
Unfortunately the toss to CNN Sports Tonight was lost thanks to CNN International's rude interruption (with the wrong World News music to boot), as CNNI didn't carry CNN Sports Tonight - we don't get to see the very final throw to the Sports Tonight guys.

Most of the defections are from CBS.
Phil Kloer, TV Critic: Nothing like this has ever happened in broadcast television before,
CBS scrambles to find new stations to run its programs.
Kloer: .and chances are, that new affiliate is going to be weaker, and it’s going to hurt.
Paul Schulman, Media Buyer: It’s a big loss in the amount of people who can receive the CBS signal.
Preston Padden, V.P. Fox Affiliates: Today’s announcement is really a giant step toward our goal of becoming the #1 television network in America.
That step is a costly one. Fox makes a half-billion dollar investment in the company that owns its new affiliates. That’s after spending big money for the rights to air NFL games, which had been
on CBS for decades.

A crisis over North Koreas nuclear program threatens to turn war games in the volatile peninsula into the real thing. At issue: whether North Korea is building a nuclear bomb. The United States and the international community demand that North Korea open up its nuclear facilities to inspection. North Korea at first cracks the door open, then slams it shut. The nuclear gambit leaves both sides watching each other warily across a border bristling with weapons and tension.
Bill Clinton: Its pointless for them to try to develop nuclear weapons, because if they ever used them it would be the end of their country.
Venturing across the Cold War divide between North and South Korea, a former U.S. President, Jimmy Carter. He meets with North Korean President Kim Il-Sung and comes back with a promising offer.
Carter: Hes given me assurance that as long as this good-faith effort is going on between the United States and North Korea, that the inspectors will stay on site.
The U.S. and North Korea formally signed an agreement defusing the 18-month crisis. North Korea agrees to freeze suspicious nuclear activity. In return, the U.S. promises to help replace North Korean reactors with ones not designed to produce nuclear weapons.
But, the downing of a U.S. helicopter in North Korean territory on December 17 threatens to torpedo the agreement. The copilot, David Hilemon, is killed. The pilot, Bobby Hall, is freed after 13 days in captivity. Fortunately, he did not steal any posters.
Suspicion lingers on both sides of the border.")
