Along with Sigmund Freud, whose disciple he was, Carl Jung is considered one of the most influential thinkers of the last century. Unlike Freud, Jung saw the unconscious as a creative and independent entity, Freud saw it as a container for what the mind represses. This divergence on the nature of the unconscious would be key in Jung's separation from Sigmund Freud.

Carl Jung spoke fearlessly about myths, dreams, the soul and God, revolutionising all ideas conceived at the time, and creating a new branch of psychology: analytical psychology.

This series traces his work and his message through the story of his life, his dreams, his travels and the memories of colleagues and patients. It includes footage shot at his home in Zurich, private footage recorded during his travels in Africa and America, and an unbroadcast interview with Jung recorded in 1956.
