This Lunch & Learn is designed to support those in caregiving roles.

Rev. Carmen Emerson is an ordained minister who, after 11 years in parish ministry, answered a deeper call to hospital chaplaincy and joined Baptist Health in 2019. She is a board-certified chaplain and works as a Spiritual Support Services Coordinator in the Spiritual Care Department at Baptist Health, focusing on team member support across the system and the grief and bereavement support program. She is a graduate of the Center for Loss & Life Transition, founded by Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt, whose insights are reflected in today’s presentation.

Todd Owens, PT, DPT, is the rehabilitation manager for inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services at Baptist Medical Center Nassau, where he has worked for the past 10 years. He has been a physical therapist for 13 years and earned both his bachelor’s degree and doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of North Georgia. Throughout his career, Todd has worked in a variety of rehabilitation settings, helping patients recover and giving families the knowledge and confidence to safely care for their loved ones. Todd’s passion for supporting caregivers comes from both his career and his personal life. Growing up with a brother who sustained a traumatic brain and spinal cord injury at a young age, he saw firsthand the love, dedication, and challenges his parents and family experienced as caregivers. Those experiences inspired his commitment to helping not only patients but also family members and caregivers, who are such an important part of the recovery journey.
