The first automated production line of Carbonaide’s is being built at the factory of Rakennusbetoni- ja Elementti Oy in Hollola, Finland. Video was made in February 2023.
Carbonaide, a spin-out company from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, provides carbon dioxide (CO2) reuse and storage technology (CCUS) for the concrete industry, enabling the production of CO2-negative concrete.
Carbonaide’s solution is based on an effective carbonation method, which binds carbon dioxide into precast concrete using an automated system at atmospheric pressure. The technology can halve the CO2 emissions of traditional Portland cement concrete by reducing the required cement content and mineralizing CO2 into concrete.
