In this video I compare the Carbine C45 Inline padlock with the standard Carbine C45 padlock. I take a close look at both locks from a locksmith’s perspective and see how they compare in real use.
Rather than just looking at the outside of the padlocks, I dismantle both locks to see exactly what is inside them. This allows us to examine the internal mechanism, cylinder design, and how easy it is for a locksmith to re-key each padlock.
Re-keying is an important part of locksmith work. When locks are used on gates, factories, storage areas, schools, or commercial buildings they often need to be keyed alike or added into a master key system. Some padlocks are designed to be serviced easily while others can be more difficult.
In this video I open both padlocks and look at the internal components. I show how the cylinders come apart and how easy it is to change the pins and re-key the lock. This is useful for locksmiths, apprentice locksmiths, and anyone interested in how locks work.
The Carbine C45 padlock has been a popular brass padlock used in Australia for many years. The newer C45 Inline version has a slightly different internal design which may make it easier to service and re-key.
