This is an active (9V-battery powered) triple-source guitar pickup / amplification / electronics system that is *extremely* impressive. It has two microphones (one internal and one external) and a traditional under-the-saddle piezo element. The unit comes with a preamp that can blend the two microphones with the piezo to achieve the desired sound. This allows you to cater to either live performance or studio recording (more piezo while performing live, and more microphones while recording in the studio). It is a simple yet effective, all-in-one solution that is just plug-and-play. Just get a professional to install it for you, and you're good to go. You can adjust the gain on the the piezo and the balance between the internal and external microphone (using the supplied tool) to optimize their signals, then you can blend effectively between the piezo and the microphone(s) to your taste. The unit also has a tone knob to EQ the output (more bass versus more treble). The killer feature on this setup is the FS (feedback suppression) button on the preamp which literally does magic. It is a truly unique and highly effective technology that eliminates feedback using automated narrow frequency notching, therefore not impacting the overall sound of your instrument. It seriously mystified me as to how well it works even at ultra-loud volumes and with me *facing* the guitar amp cabinet! This is such a wonderful unit that only requires drilling a hole in the tail of the instrument and a tiny hole in the bridge. The output jack sends a mono signal, which works easily with just a standard TS instrument cable.
