First off, I would like to apologize for my limited content as of recently. In the past 5 days, I have uploaded 5 TASes of the exact same category, with each one obsoleting the next. Luke probably said it best when he said This is why you finish a TAS before you make it public. However, from here on out, Im not uploading anymore MG Flap videos, and I will make the obsoleted times unlisted videos. I will try to keep this from happening in the future. So, with that out of the way...
WHERE THE HELL DID THIS TIME COME FROM?!
After uploading my 30.591, I decided to try to get mushroom abuse on the mushroom at the bridge, and succeeded as you can see in the video. I also managed to improve the shroomles mushroom skip and the cave section as a whole. The combination of all those optimizations brought the time down to this flap. 30.3xx is 100% possible, as its not even a frame away from this run, but I wasnt able to save that time in the cave, and I dont want to redo half the lap again, so this is the lowest time Ill go to.
HUGE shoutout the Swarejonge for explaining some of the things I needed to know for this track, such as the 98 landing, boostless mushroom abuse, and the turn in the cave. I really could not have done this without his help.

As for the run itself, this is one of, if not the single most optimized MKW TAS in history. The only part of the run that can be improved in millisecond intervals is the ending, but this run already saves .002 from the already incredibly optimized ending of the 16.169 Flap. As for the respawn itself, the margin of error is much more forgiving due to respawns being locked to frame cycles. Even still, it took a lot to get the respawn as earlier as we possibly could. Since the lap is not started the way the game expects it to be, the exact finish time calculation doesnt occur, and as a result, the lap will always start on an increment of 16.667 milliseconds. This allows us to alter the starting position of the lap without changing the starting time, which was ultimately crucial in optimizing the respawn. Even if we ignore the lap count and simply nosedive as much as we can, its still not possible to improve the respawn. If the respawn can be improved, its ridiculously hard to do so.
So what is the future of Mario Raceways ultra shortcut? In my eyes, only one thing could theoretically shave time from this already absurd category. If we are ever able to prove a bounce across the gap possible without going back in-bounds, we should be able to perform the glitch as a whole without respawning, and if that happens, the category is easily getting taken down by another few seconds. However, after the amount of time Ive put into attempting this to no avail,
Im willing to leave it to the imagination.
Whether Im considered one of the discoverers of the ultra or simply the first to perform it, Im honored to have contributed towards the categorys creation and the development of what could potentially be its last major strat. I really do hope to see the no-respawn happen someday, but for now, its time to step away from the category once and for all. I wish the best for anyone who comes back to it. Much love!

The BKT drought has been broken... by a run finished four months ago. Better late than never I suppose. Yeah, for whatever reason, this run was started last year, finished in January, and then sorta just went silent despite effectively being finished. Theres a lot of other runs made this year that have gone unpublished, so to help split the workload, Monster allowed me to go ahead and handle this upload despite not being the lead author, so big thanks to him for that. Hopefully well start seeing some more of those other improvements posted in the near future.
So, rDKJP Unrestricted Flap! Things have changed quite a bit with this one. Ever since this ultra was discovered, the general route for the flap has always been pretty much the same: clip tree, horizontal wall glitch through the wall, hit KCP, win. However, at the end of 2023, Monster decided to cook a little bit by discovering the second ever time saving application of a dayclip state! If youve watched the DDR UR Flap I posted a while back, you may be familiar with this tech, but to those unaware, a dayclip state is a unique interaction exclusive to the Daytripper which allows the kart to bypass floor collision, or dayclip, in certain situations (namely when clipping walls or driving on a slope change). Given the height of the finish line relative to the height of the floor in the cave, Monster theorized that using a dayclip would allow for a method of performing the ultra without a wallclip, thereby allowing for a much more delayed lap entry. This may seem straightforward (if it doesnt, just go with it), but theres a major issue that the boys had to overcome.
You see, a dayclip state can only be achieved when the vehicle is on an exposed seam, and on DKJP in the context of a flap, this means that the dayclip has to be achieved by landing on the out-of-bounds seam of cave by either going through the wall with HWG or just jumping straight over the wall. Neither of these options are particularly great since getting HWG to through the wall requires a wallclip (which karts are infamously bad at doing), and the walls of the cave extend far too high to be surpassed by normal means. However, Monster doesnt play by normal means, so he repurposed a previously unused strat which used a supergrind ejection to surpass the height of the cave wall using external velocity. While karts cant normally supergrind, the downhill slope of the ground leading to the bridge allows the kart to gain enough external velocity to perform an ejection with enough height to clear the wall. Marth then adjusted his ejection to allow the vehicle to precisely land on the out-of-bounds seam of the cave, thus leading to the exact conditions for a dayclip state to be set up.
After achieving the dayclip state, hitting the final KCP, and navigating out of the cave, we start the flap with the strat that this whole setup was for in the first place, the dayclip! As I mentioned earlier, a dayclip state can allow the Daytripper to clip through the floor at a slope transition, and thats exactly what we do here. By reversing the kart into the slope transition, we clip through the floor and enter the cave before the flap has even started. The vehicle then enters the finish line checkpoint to start the flap, exits the finish line, lands on the floor of the cave, and enters the final KCP all in quick succession. From this point, the rest of the run is as simple as using our remaining two shrooms to accelerate and skip as much of the final turn as possible.

After messing with lap 3 of the original TAS I did, I realized that I still had a savestate from the start of lap 2. From there, I completely re-TASed laps 2 and 3, cutting over 3 seconds off the run.

This is just a random thing I decided to create after looking back at my original Spear Quintuple video from 8 months ago. I am honestly not sure if 3 normal cookie strats with Spear would be faster than this, but without a good way to TAS with the Wii Wheel, I cant reliably test that. Theres likely a fair amount of improvement that can be made, from the cave entry, to the glitch entry, to the glitch itself, but its all so jank that Im pretty satisfied with what I got.")

On Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, my first Platinum Runner TAS Strats video hit 1 million views on Youtube, the tenth time an MKW TAS video by an individual has ever reached such a milestone. I figured that there was only one proper send off to that video, and that is this video. Platinum Runner TAS Strats 2, my largest non-BKT TAS project to date, a compilation that took over five months to finally complete.
If you dont know what the Platinum Runner is, it is a stat modification originally created by Atlas for TWD98. The mod takes the Flame Runner and Spear vehicle bodies and gives them both max stats, filling up every stat bar on the vehicle select menu. These stats provide the vehicle with the capability to perform stunts that no other vanilla vehicle in the game can replicate.
As you might have expected, this video was kind of a nightmare to create. My goal was to make a compilation that is at minimum on-par with the first. The problem was that in making the first video, I already used many of the most obvious strats. For this reason, I had to dig deep to find new interesting strats. At least in my opinion, while this video definitely has a few clips that are underwhelming, the highlights of the montage far surpass those of its predecessors. I do hope that you all enjoy what I have put together. Thank you for all being so patient with me. Much love.
