In Canva.com, a designer can only add one text effect to any given box of text. [ Join Canva here: canva.com/join/nwj-llm-qsw ]While Canva offers a range of text effects like shadow, lift, outline, hollow, splice, echo, glitch, and neon, the platform doesn’t allow multiple effects to be combined on a single text box. That is a limitation, even for Canva Pro users. I’m sure the awesome people at Canva are working on this, but till this feature is updated, here is a good workaround:
The workaround would be to duplicate the text box and apply different effects to each version of the text. You can layer them creatively with the "Position" feature, to achieve a look that resembles having multiple effects. It’s that easy!
In this video how-to, we first applied a stroke, which is the Effect named "Outline in Canva". We then copied that same text box and simply applied a drop shadow, just called "Shadow" in Canva "Text Effects". We then go to the "Position" feature, just two buttons to the right of the "Effects" button and we can arrange that "Shadow" text box under the "Outline" text box. And, with a little tinkering and some cool "snap to position" magic from Canva, it looks great!
That is how you can add two text effects to your content in Canva!
