A.Z. Foreman | Canto 1 of Dante's Inferno read in English Translation @a.z.foreman74 | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 18 hours ago
Basically, I enjoyed the Chantilly manuscript of the Inferno so much that one thing led to another and I wound up making this.
Just me reading my translation of canto 1 of the Inferno, taken from the corresponding page on my translation blog. You can find it complete with notes at: http://poemsintranslation.blogspot.com/2017/12/dante-alighieri-inferno-1-from-italian.html
Or if you feel like reading a little ramble I wrote about the process of translating Dante:
blogicarian.blogspot.com/2017/12/on-translating-dante.html
(I didn't read the original Italian for this one, as I do with most of my translations, because the English alone is so long that it would've made the video a bit bloated. And there's not much in the way of phonological reconstruction to do anyway, because literary Tuscan is boring that way.)
