Cancel culture & political correctness is poison. The idea that people can dig things up from peoples past to use against them as a weapon to de platform them or ruin their career or reputation is toxic behavior. Obvious, as with most things, there are always exceptions to the rule, and certain behaviors and things that have been done in the past is indeed grounds for punishment. However, 99% of the time, when people, content creators, comedians, etc are canceled, its for absolutely childish reasons that should not be grounds for being canceled. On top of that, many of the people who act like thought & word police, are guilty of saying and doing things just as bad, if not worse than what they are trying to cancel people for. Lets be real folks. We have all said and done things that we eventually regretted as we grew older, matured, and gained a more balanced sense of ourselves & the world. Should those things be grounds for punishment? Most of the time NO! We have to be careful with cancel culture because of the threat it poses to freedom of speech. Aside from that, cancel culture is mutating. Its growing more and more stringent & authoritative. Those who want to drown the world in political correctness & thought/word control will continue to uphold their control to a higher and higher standard, until eventually no one will be able to say anything due to the fact that someone, somewhere may find it offensive. Lets snap out of this trance and remember the age old adage " Sticks & stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. "
