The Canadian Congress of Black Politicians (CCBP) holds a news conference on Parliament Hill to announce its incorporation as a national organization for black elected officials to work together on issues facing the black community.

Speaking are CCBP members Colleen James (regional councillor in Waterloo), Suzy Hansen (Nova Scotia New Democrat MLA), Michael Coteau (Liberal MP), Arlene Bryant (city councillor in Châteauguay), Martin Reid (city councillor in Mississauga), and Kathy McDonald (school board trustee in Peel).
