In Ottawa, federal ministers announce Canada’s response to U.S. tariffs after trade negotiations between the two countries broke down last week. The ministers announce dollar-for-dollar counter-tariffs on $27.6 billion worth of U.S. goods, as well as $7.5 billion in support for workers and businesses in tariff-impacted industries.
Speaking at the news conference are ministers François-Philippe Champagne (finance), Mélanie Joly (industry), Patty Hajdu (jobs and families), and Evan Solomon (AI and digital innovation), as well as Liberal MP Mona Fortier (Ottawa–Vanier–Gloucester).
