The internal drive is soldered in. You can't swap it out on any modern Mac.
You can use an external drive though. Just know which port you plug into. Top port gets you 10Gbps speeds. Bottom port caps out around 500MB/s read and write.
500MB/s is probably fine for most people. But it is one more thing to carry and keep plugged in.
