Can you sketch something that happened days ago — without photographs or reference? How accurate will it be as a memory? Will you add or subtract from the truth!?
Sometimes I wish I'd brought my sketchbook to an event, but I have a good memory and can sketch what I think happened. But is my memory what actually happened?
In this video I’m trying to reconstruct a little adventure from memory.
How much can I actually remember? And how much does a lifetime of drawing help fill in the gaps?
Perhaps sketching from memory isn’t about remembering exactly what everything looked like. It’s about remembering enough to tell the story.
What could you sketch from memory?
