This is Part 2 of Total Transformation, picking up right where Part 1 left off — you can catch that video linked below if you missed how we cleaned, inspected, and tore this 2013 Yoder YS640 down to start. Today we finish the last of the disassembly, pulling hinges, the hopper bracket, and the variable displacement damper before lifting the whole cooking chamber off the cart so we can work on every surface.

From there it's a full sanding process — wire brushing surface rust, working through 120, 80, and 240 grit sandpaper, and taking the worst spots down to bare steel to deal with 13 years of pitting. We also get into some grill archaeology, uncovering evidence of a factory hinge upgrade, before wiping everything down with acetone and laying down the first coat of high-temperature stove paint.
