The FORTiS encoder readhead is uniquely sealed, enabling recovery from accidental flooding. This got us thinking, what's the harshest submersion test we could come up with, under conditions that go beyond ‘normal’ testing?

Cue a particularly cold snap this winter, and the FORTiS encoder found itself spending 48 hours at the bottom of the Renishaw New Mills pond, with icy conditions of -7°C (19°F)!
