With the release of the F-100D Super Sabre in DCS World, we test one of the most interesting and unlikely questions in military aviation—can it operate from aircraft carriers?
In this video, we attempt carrier operations aboard a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier using the F-100D Super Sabre, pushing it far beyond its intended land-based role. We also bring in a variety of non-naval aircraft including the F-4 Phantom II, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E Tiger II, and F-16 Fighting Falcon to see how they handle carrier approaches and landings.
From risky deck operations to questionable carrier recoveries, this experiment explores what happens when land-based fighters meet naval aviation challenges in DCS World.
Will any of these aircraft successfully trap on the carrier, or will it end in chaos on the deck?
