In this video, I’m breaking down a large piece of obsidian using nothing but traditional antler tools.
I start with a good-sized obsidian preform and work it down using several different antler billets, from large to small, to see just how far I can take it using primitive knapping techniques.
No modern copper billets or pressure-flaking tools—just obsidian, antler, and a whole lot of flakes!
The goal is to turn this rough preform into a large, usable biface that could eventually become almost any kind of blade or point.
