The UK’s new Prime Minister Andy Burnham has promised to ‘bring back hope’ to the country. He is the seventh person to hold the office in just ten years, taking over from Keir Starmer.
Burnham has pledged to oversee the biggest changes in the UK for four decades and bring back political stability.
He has assembled a cabinet of trusted allies, appointing John Healey as Chancellor, Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary and retaining Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary.
His government has unveiled ambitious plans to ease the cost of living crisis, including removing VAT from electricity bills from October and plans for bus fares across England to be capped at 2 pounds.
