We talk about how eyelashes can actually damage the eyeball, a condition called trichiasis. This can be caused by eye infections, damage, autoimmune conditions, or chronic eyelid inflammation. The eyelashes can rub against the eye and cause irritation, light sensitivity, corneal abrasions, and even vision issues or blindness in severe cases. The common treatment is to remove the offending eyelashes, and there are also procedures to permanently remove the hair follicles.
