Keratoconus is ocular condition that can cause irregular astigmatism, making it difficult to correct vision with glasses or normal soft contact lenses. Keratoconus is a progressive disease that causes the corneal to thing and bulge out like a cone shape. This can cause unique visual symptoms including: Blur in all distances, Streaks of light especially at night while driving, ghost images including triple ghost images, rapidly changing vision and increasing blur, difficult clarity of vision with glasses or normal contacts, and sometimes even light sensitivity. The exact cause for the most part is not known. There are certain signs and symptoms that can indicate keratoconus, but additional testing is needed to officially diagnose. It's important to diagnose early to start treatment early, which will be covered in the next video.
