American college-goers are frustrated. Most students report that economic outcomes—such as better wages, a good job, and a reliable career—are their primary reasons for pursuing higher education. Yet these same students are increasingly skeptical of higher education’s costs, unreliable employment outcomes, and shaky economic returns.
In response to this discontent, a bipartisan movement has taken root in US higher education policy to protect and strengthen the sector’s economic value proposition and hold institutions accountable for producing strong wage and employment outcomes for their students. This event will explore the current state and future prospects of the value and accountability movement in US higher education policy.
