Since its launch in 2014, the Our Ocean Conference has become one of the world’s most influential platforms for turning ocean concerns into real commitments. Governments, nonprofits, companies, and civil society organizations gather to announce concrete actions — from policy reforms to research initiatives and conservation projects.
According to the World Resources Institute’s Meaghan Cuddy, the conference has already generated 2,900 commitments worldwide, helping drive funding, programs, and capacity-building efforts focused on major ocean challenges, including climate impacts.
“It serves as a mechanism to really mobilize action from governments and civil society actors all across the world to address the ocean issues that are pressing their countries and their communities.”
Those commitments have now helped deploy $170 billion in financing, demonstrating how international collaboration can translate big ocean ambitions into measurable action.
