Camillus police have provided more details about how they responded to Saturday night’s standoff at a Sunoco gas station.
Police responded to the Sunoco on West Genesee Street around 8:48 p.m. Saturday for a reported robbery in progress. According to police, 54-year-old Christopher Piedmont of Auburn, was inside the store claiming to have explosives and a knife. He later claimed to have a gun and threatened to shoot or blow up anyone who entered, police say.
Employees and customers were able to get out of the store without injury.
