Kerry was a professor of geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the University of California for 17 years. In her 15 years of research, she studied abuse and neglect of the elderly, the effects of isolation on the cognitive stability in older age and she continuously helps older adults to embrace ageing. Her promotional focus towards positive and successful ageing opposes the stereotypical view on ageing as something that needs to be countered. She herself advises a counter-cultural attitude towards ageing and calls upon everybody to embrace the elderly for their uniqueness and their wisdom.
