Special Issue at the Journal of Operations Management on Mobility, Climate Change, and Economic Inequality. Guest editors: Susan Helper, David Keith, Merieke Stevens.
Operations management is at the heart of two critical sustainability challenges: the need to urgently reduce greenhouse gas emissions to avoid catastrophic disruption to the climate, and the need to improve access to ‘good’ jobs to address growing income inequality globally. Nowhere is this more evident than in the mobility sector.
The editors call for research on vehicle production, mobility, and transportation systems that: explicates the link between operational decision making and environmental and socioeconomic outcomes; considers outcomes for all stakeholders; is accessible to policymakers; and supports the formulation of actionable improvements.
Deadline for first submissions: August 31st, 2020.
