We take California Route 1 North from Fort Bragg to Leggett. For the first half of this drive, the road runs parallel to the Pacific Coast and offers occasional dramatic ocean views. Eventually, the road is forced to turn inland due to the ruggedness of the Lost Coast beyond. The section of road between the coast and Leggett is marked by sharp turns, steep hills and thick forest.
