When they are first sighted, these ciliates swim very quickly, spinning along straight lines, stalling for a moment when running into debris. Eventually they slow down, and mostly stay in one final position until they seem to lose all energy, and in some cases break down and lose cell wall integrity. Freshwater. Bangkok, Thailand.
